Tenbury MP calls for fairer local fuel prices

Harriett Baldwin MP
Local MP Harriett Baldwin has called on local petrol companies to keep prices under control as pump prices reach record highs.

Harriett has referred the issue to the Office of Fair Trading in recent months and is keeping a close eye on pump prices as supply issues ease.

She commented: “I would be very angry if petrol companies have used this situation as an excuse to lift prices and keep them high.

“As supply levels are back to normal, I hope that prices will return to the pre-budget levels and no company starts profiteering.

Tenbury Bids for "Golden Ticket"

Tenbury's video in support of their application
Tenbury Wells joined hundreds of communities across England in bidding for a slice of one million pounds from Mary Portas's scheme to help rejuvenate town centres. As well as the cash they'll get advice from the retail guru.

Last year Mary Portas led a review into the decline of the high streets and concluded that many had reached crisis point.

Grant Shapps  MINISTER OF STATE FOR HOUSING & LOCAL GOVERNMENT  said:
"Our high streets have faced stiff competition from Internet shopping, and out-of-town shopping centres - leaving them underused, unloved and under-valued. The Internet is not going to go away, and so for our high streets to survive they need to offer something new and exciting.
"So today I'm offering a golden ticket to 12 town centres across the country to become 'Portas Pilots' - areas with the vision and enthusiasm to breathe new life into what should be the beating heart of their communities, and they will get Mary's and my support as they try out the ideas in her recent review."

McDonalds to come to Tenbury

It looks like Tenbury, will be getting a 24hour drive thru fast food restaurant in the next few months.

International food giant McDonalds have announced that they have plans to convert the closed Burford Nurseries Cafe into a drive thru fast food restaurant.

A spokes person said that they have secured a rural development grant from Shropshire Council and hope to have all the necessary permissions in place within a few months.

They went on to say that this is an ideal site with access directly off the A456, and with no immediate residential neighbours.  We see no reason why people living in rural areas should be deprived of our fantastic range of nutritious meals, or have to travel to Kidderminster or Worcester to enjoy them.
