Tesco Exhibition - Update

Tony Fletcher, corporate affairs manager at Tesco, said:

“The plans we will be showcasing in the town next week (May 18th and May 19th) are from the original application submitted on April 30th, which has yet to be registered by Malvern Hills District Council.

“It is quite usual for a council to require further reports and information before registering and validating a planning application and we are working with the planning officers to ensure that they have all the necessary information to do so as soon as possible.”

Everything Everywhere

The mobile phone giant formed by the merger of Orange and T-Mobile's UK is to be called Everything Everywhere.

Although the Orange and T-Mobile brands will remain on the high street, the firm said its new name reflected the ambition of the new business.

The BOOT is back.

Plans are under way to reinstate the traditional Tenbury Bank Holiday Boot fare.

A new Commercial operator has come forward with a proposal that has been accepted by Tenbury Town Council for a Boot Fare on Monday May 31st and Monday August 30th.

The venue will be the Burgage as usual.

TESCO TO EXHIBIT PLANS FOR TENBURY WELLS

Tenbury local people are to be given a chance to view and discuss the details for the proposed new Tesco store in the town with a public exhibition at The Pump Rooms on May 18th and 19th.

Tesco has submitted plans to build a new 15,000 sq ft store on the Cattle Market site, which will create up to 180 jobs for local people.

Shoppers and residents will be able to see detailed plans and leave comments at the two-day exhibition, as well as speaking to Tesco representatives who will be on hand to answer questions about the plans.

Tony Fletcher, corporate affairs manager at Tesco, said: “This is an opportunity for members of the public, and the local community, to speak to members of our planning team and give their feedback. The comments we receive from local people at this exhibition will then be incorporated into the scheme where possible.”

The proposed new store will be environmentally friendly incorporating a sustainable timber frame and glass structure, providing a modern, contemporary feel. It will include 94 car parking spaces and a host of energy saving features that will help to reduce the store’s carbon footprint and ensure maximum energy efficiency.

The public exhibition will be at The Pump Rooms from 10am – 6.30pm on Tuesday May 18th and from 9am – 4pm on Wednesday May 19th.

“We think it is very important that everyone sees the full details of our proposals before deciding one way or the other. We are in the process of planning our public exhibition in the town and full details of this exhibition will be announced as soon as we have finalised the arrangements. This will be the opportunity for members of the public, and the local community, to speak to members of our planning team and give their feedback. The comments we receive from local people at this exhibition will then be incorporated into the scheme where possible.”

Tenbury County Cllr confronts Nick Clegg

Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrat battle bus passed through Malvern today.

Mr Clegg was confronted by Ken Pollock, chairman of West Worcestershire Conservatives, who said he was "manhandled" out of the way by a policeman.
