It seems that the contract to build a new store in Tenbury Wells still hasn't been agreed.
Two further obstacles still need to be overcome. One is a land ownership query, and the other is about footpath maintenance.
Tesco are still committed to the site and hope to have the store open by Christmas 2013.

Are they looking into it now that they realise that they need to strengthen the pavements to get their massive juggernauts through?
Shouldn't of this been accounted for during the application?

and how do you know what size lorry tesco will be delivering with? they have massive ones too

like they have done so many times before. I think Stourport comes to mind where they just dropped tools and left it mid build. When they promised to re develop the roads round it. I may be wrong on the town/city but you get the idea.

It was.
The delay now is because the surface of the riverside walk have been upgraded from tarmac, but the amount budgeted for maintenance is based on tarmac so needs revising. Not a big deal, but needs doing before the contract is signed.
maybe tesco should just scrap their store plans and set up shop in another town where they are wanted. oh wait they are never wanted.

in the court room. weren't you there? they decided that tesco is a money grabbing company that doesn't care about local independent shops
So they overturned the Tenbury planning permission then? Not.
I would guess the TF bunch couldn't come up with the support or funding to launch the threatened judicial review, odd given the majority support they claim to wield against Tesco.......
That sounds like a strange courtroom - they don't usually peddle prejudices.

Surely the contract has to be signed before a judicial review to proceed.
I should think that it would be a JR of the decision to grant permission - whether or not a contract is signed consequent to the decision.

I see that Tesco are having financial difficulties today and have posted their first operating loss for 20 years..
Interestingly, their operations in the far east have either closed or are shrinking and their operation in the US is in dire straits with huge financial losses as the Guardian states:
"... For a second time Tesco has put the brakes on the rate of store openings and is concentrating on turning a profit from the stores it already has. At present only a third of Fresh & Easy stores are profitable. "We need more from Fresh & Easy," said Clarke (chairman)."

I wonder if all of this uncertainty is also affecting Tesco's hard and fast commitment to the Tenbury site and giving them the jitters?
people in tenbury wants to open there eyes never mind the size of tesco lorries what about the size off the tractors and trailers coming through town nobody says anythink about that .

Tesco 6 monthly profits may be down but that is down to more people going to aldi and lidl. aldi profits are up 200 per cent BUT TESCO ARE STILL in profit

In return, I, and many other shoppers, have lost all faith in the fairness of Tesco pricing and promotions. I now often check the price of basic goods and promotions on my smartphone to see whether Tesco is trying to rip me off. Should customers be reduced to this level of distrust, even when buying a tin of tuna? This level of distrust is terribly damaging to a brand and profitability.
Is this progress in the same way that creating "too big to fail banks" was supposed to be progress? How sustainable is the business model of these supermarkets? I heard Tesco is in trouble. Lets wait and see.......
