We did try an evening event 2 years ago, but we sold very few tickets.
Got the feeling that if the event had been free, there would have been a better take up, but we had to pay for the band and the security, so couldn't make that work.
The events team are a little jaded after the 12+ hour day (we are getting on a bit)but would be very happy if a new team could run an evening event and "re-use" the marquee.
Can't say I was put off by the admission charge - I didn't know there was one till I got there! But it was reality rather "nominal" so can't think it deterred too many people.

One thing that didn't work was the location of he Sunshine stage. The music was good, but painfully loud so it was impossible to talk to stall holders in that area. Why not erect the Sunshine stage nearer the edge of the Burgage, facing towards the Palmers, so that people can still talk to each other? It might be a good idea to have a "safety fence" to keep people from going too near the speakers - the noise level was way over the "First Action Level" (I am a Health and Safety professional). Happened to be in Stottesden today . . . met a lady who travelled to Tenbury to visit the Applefest PM. She told me she was amazed that so many of the shops were closed . . . typical of the complacency of some of our retail outlets I'm afraid.
This blog is an eclectic collection of my thoughts and concerns. Some subjects are brought to my attention by others who feel this blog is a good conduit for communication. I am a volunteer for a number of local organisations, but I do NOT write on their behalf. I do not pretend to talk on behalf of any organisation or the community. There are people who share some of my views, and others that do not. If you do not like what you read here, find another blog to read, or better still write your own.
"I am not a sheep, I have my own mind. I am fed up with being told what and how to think? Whilst we are still allowed the remnants of free speech, I will speak out."
I think I agree with that.
This Blog is my snapshot of what is happening locally.
Whether you view me as an activist, a mischief maker, a nutter, an irritant, or a recorder of social history probably depends on your position and point of view.

An excellent event - thanks to all the participants and volunteers (and the weather!).
Splendid indeed - much better than last year - roll on next year!
Thank you for your kind comments.

Sorry for confusion. Meant charge for evening event in 2009.
Some people do object to the gate charge for Applefest but we have to raise some money or cannot stage event.

I thought the event looked really good. Lovely day too and all seemed to enjoy the atmosphere that I saw..
