WAKE UP TENBURY!

I hope that Tenbury isn't sleep walking into postal obscurity, but so far no one seems to be making much of a fuss.

Don't underestimate the effect that the closing of the Tenbury Postal sorting office could have on all of our lives.

Whether they admit it or not, outlying areas served by Ludlow and Kidderminster sorting office often don't get mail for days, then get several letters with differently dated post all at once.

One person said it was strange although she had the same postman as her daughter they never got post on the same day!

In Tenbury most addresses get a daily delivery and usually most addresses get their post by 10am.

If Tenbury sorting office closes, where will our Posties have to go to collect their mail?  I doubt Royal Mail could cope with WR post at a HR DY or a SY sorting office so that could mean our post comes from Worcester.

Not only could this mean a two hour round trip at the start of their shift, and then possibly another two hours at the end to return undelivered mail.

Also have you thought of the possibility that you will have to go to Worcester to collect mail that requires a signature that you weren't at home to sign on the first delivery attempt.

In Tenbury you can collect your missed item the same day, often within hours.  In other areas you have to wait at least 24 hours.

Parcelforce leave undelivered parcels at the Tenbury sorting office.  How useful will that be if they leave them in Worcester!

I urge everyone to contact Royal Mail, contact your MP and start making a fuss!

Strike Six!

Well that one lasted less that two weeks.

Strike Five!

....and there is goes again.

For the fifth time in it's short life the bollard has been hit again.

Don't blame the design, it's the drivers that are at fault!

Doing the same, differently.

When in business you see a lot of offers, some of which are not really offers at all, but every now and again a company comes to your attention with either a new idea, or a new way of doing things.  Look how Vistaprint have revolutionised the online print industry.  Local printers may not agree, but the quality and speed in which it is now possible to buy print is simply mind blowing.

A company marketing themselves under the URL of www.bannersex.co.uk seem to be re-engineering the way they sell and therefore the way we buy banners.  The also have a great social media presence on Facebook and have special offers on a regular basis.

If you run a business, or like so many are now involved as a volunteer, then banners are a great way to grab attention to advertise an event or special offer of your own.

Compare their offer with your existing supplier and I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised.

For the fourth time in it's short life the bollard at the corner of Teme Street & Market Street and been hit.

Whether is it poorly sighted, the road layout is not correct or there are just too many poor drivers using the town as a short cut nobody yet knows!

Down it goes again.

The new bollard at the corner of Market Street & Teme Street has been felled for a third time.  This time it was hit by a John Deere tractor & trailer combo.  Of course the bollard is there to protect the pavement from vehicle encroachment, so it could be said that it's installation is justified.

It must be a concern that the road layout is such that vehicles are so regularly hitting it.

On the opposite pavement, the planned bollards have not been installed, and cars and other vehicles are regularly running over the area that would have traditionally been the pavement.  It can only be a matter of time before someone is hit.  With clear evidence of constant encroachment then surely WCC would be culpable as the designers of this poorly delivered plan.

Splash Point still not fixed after 11 years.

The splash-point in Kyrewood Road just over Kyre Bridge is still very much in evidence despite numerous attempts by WCC to solve.

In fact if you ask them they have solved the problem!  I beg to differ.

Overnight closures to Market Street

Ringway have announced that there will be overnight closures to Market Street, between 9th March & 22nd March but as yet the full details aren't available.

Ringway have a blog to keep us up to date on the happenings.

Tesco to start work on Tenbury supermarket site next week.

What have been described as "minor works" are due to start on the cattle market site next week.

These works include the demolition of the double garages behind Temeside House, and other minor demolition works.  Also the formation of a manhole within the existing car park area.

No date has yet been set for the full closure of the site, the demolition of the main building or the commencement of building.
