Well that one lasted less that two weeks.

A picture paints a thousand words, but are all of them true?
The same picture has appeared in both this weeks Teme Valley Times & Tenbury Advertiser showing traffic congestion at the junction of the Old Cattle Market site & Teme Street.
If traffic is always so bad then how do you explain this photo's?
This was taken at 12:40 on 24th August 2011. I was in town for about an hour, and crossed back and forth across Teme Street several times and there was hardly a car to be seen.
Tenbury seems to get four rushes a day. Two coincide with school runs and the other I guess is the "rush hour" although the evening one seems to last about 20 minutes. If the only time you come to town is during these times you probably think it's busy, but at other times, often it's not. (Unless someone puts up temporary traffic lights and doesn't phase them correctly).

Tenbury to get a makeover
In a surprising development Worcester County Council have announced that Tenbury is at the top of their list for the next round of Public Realm makeovers.
Tenbury Civic Society & Tenbury Area Partnership along with the Town Council have been lobbying Worcester County Council for a number of years to make improvements to the street scene in Tenbury.
Alan Eachus who is the Civic Society representative on the Tenbury Area Partnership commented " Peter Blake from WCC announced that money was now available for a PR (Public Realm) scheme and works to the bridge. This of course is great news for the town and the County are keen to proceed as fast as possible. It’s been hard work getting to this stage but I remain very positive!"
Tony Penn, the Town & District Council's representative on the Tenbury Area Partnership, announced the news to the Tenbury Town Council on Monday night. He said that the improvements could start within 18 months and will include the Bridge Works. Other improvements will include alterations to the pavements, road resurfacing and street signs and furniture.

Major Power Outage - Tenbury
The fault has been traced to a single cable and EON are currently excavating in search of the problem.
The duty "jointer" is on his way to Tenbury to splice in a new section of cable. Early indications point at "old" infrastructure rather than overload or other reason for the fault developing.
It is hoped that the power will be restored in the next four hours, or at the very worst by very early morning.

Christmas Window Competition
If you get a chance, take a stroll around the shops in Tenbury this Christmas.
Nearly every shop has been refitted within the last 18 months and new hi-tech lights decorate the street scene.
To add to the Christmas magic many of the shops have entered the Tenbury Chamber of Trade shop window competition. Some truly magical window displays have been created to put a smile on your face, to tease the mind and get you guessing which Christmas song they represent.
There also some unusual gift ideas and great bargains to be found in the shops.

Countdown to Christmas
The countdown to Christmas started tonight in Tenbury Wells with the switching on of the new Christmas Street decorations. After discovering last year that most of the lights were either damaged or obsolete, fund raising has been taking place to purchase new lights.
Now blue and white twinkling lights decorate the street scene in Teme Street. Some of the older coloured lights have been used in Market Street and Cross Street.
The blue and white theme has been continued in decorating the Christmas Tree in Market Square.

Theft at the Regal
Fortunately the dry weather this week meant that the complex avoided extensive water damage, although the likely cost of repairing the roof will run into thousands of pounds.
The picture above shows the flashing in place prior to the theft. The sloped roof is the top of the screen box. The cinema volunteers had noticed light leaking onto the screen, but didn't immediately link this with the theft which was discovered later.
It is hoped that the temporary repairs will enable the 50s-60s Rock & Roll Concert, featuring Roger Brown & No Agender to go ahead tomorrow Sat. 11th October 2008 at 7.30 pm despite the forecast of rain.
