THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT. YOU POOR TENBURY PEOPLE NEED SOME FLOOD DEFENCES SORTED OUT ASAP
If MHDC had approved the flood defences for shops quickly, they would have been installed by now, so shopkeepers wouldn't be scared to death that their shops might flood again.
if i was a shop owner i would just do it and ask for permission after
There are signs in some shop windows about trying to get permission to put flood barriers in their doorways. It appears to be illegal to protect property from flood water, unless you get permission first. Does this make sense?
The wheels of local bureaucracy grind very slowly, and at MHDC doubly so.
Their latest idea is to reduce the amount of parking on Teme Street (after only recently increasing it) and banning parking outside business hours.
If you think this is madness make sure you fill out a Conservation Area Review comment form (available from the library). Unless you do they will assume that you are for it!
A bulk planning application for the flood barriers has been submitted in the name of Tenbury Town Council. I guess that is why no shop keeper wants to jump the gun as the installation is being funded centrally.
If it is being organised by the Council and if it is being funded centrally, why have the shopkeepers had to wait six months before they could even put signs in their windows saying that they might get some flood protection?
