New Leader of MHDC

It looks likely that Cllr Phillip Grove, Tenbury's Malvern Hills District Councillor will be confirmed as the new leader of Malvern Hills District Council tomorrow.

Many people have said that Malvern Hills District Council does not do enough for Tenbury. Some said this was because the Council was a long way away and did not know what happens in Tenbury. The new Leader lives in Tenbury. So now people will find out what the problem is: if the problem is lack of awareness about Tenbury, then with Mr Grove as the leader, this will be cured. If the problem is down to the Council not wanting to help Tenbury, then the problem will continue. This new appointment will make it clear whether or not the Council cares about Tenbury. Mr Grove recently stood for a Malvern seat, which he also did four years ago, leading to some people questioning his loyalty to Tenbury. It does seem strange that he stood for Malvern rather than Tenbury. It is now up to Mr Grove to show people how he can help Tenbury. In order to make sure that he knows what is needed, it is also important that people contact him with their views. I think he has a surgery at the Library; I don't know when it is, perhaps Mr WR15 could provide this information on this blog. The blog is interesting, but why so little news in June?

I understand that the new leader used to be a police constable. What is he going to do about the increase in crime in Tenbury? West Mercia Police say that there were 27 crimes in April 2009, compared to 10 crimes in April 2008. This is a very large rise, and it isn't due to April 2008 being an unusually low figure - March 2008 had 6 crimes and March 2009 had 15. This needs to be nipped in the bud before it gets out of hand.

Phil Grove was short listed for Tenbury, but the Conservatives selected Ken Pollock as their candidate.

The monthly "surgery" is advertised in the library, but I didn't feel it was news worthy enough to comment.

Yes I had two weeks holiday and I didn't keep it local. I was unable to access the Internet for all that time.

I haven't seen the crime figures. What category do they fall into? i.e. Public Order, Burglary Domestic, Vehicle Crime etc.
