I've missed The Fountain, t'was one of my favourite places to eat in and around Tenbury. I drove by a few weeks ago, was sad to see the carpark/garden overgrown.
I was told by the new owners 4 weeks ago that they would be opening this weekend. Coverage was also in various newspapers. If they didn't open there must have been a last minute hitch. We could have waited and published the news after the event, but as this was a good news story it was worth taking the risk in publishing early (the same conclusion was reached by the various local papers) I cannot imagine that this article could have caused much in the way of confusion.
As a former member of staff at the Fountain I would like to add my best wishes to the new owners. However I hope that comments that I have heard recently, regarding the last owners are not repeated on this or any other site. It was a dreadful experience for all concerned and now it is time to turn the page and move on.
I actually went back to the Fountain last night, first time since the reopening. It was quite busy! All the tables taken in the dining area and the bar area filling up. But I'd say if you are looking for a meal out I'd give it a miss. Didn't seem to have much of a menu. So we nipped down to Shamraj instead.
I tried to get a pint there last Thursday. I arrived at 1800. No one about. All doors firmly closed. No opening times displayed. No phone number displayed. At 1805 a member of staff arrived. Incredibly, he didn’t know whether the bar opened at 1800 0r 1830! So . . . I went to the Pembroke instead. I sometimes do wonder whether or not local businesses actually do want customers.
This blog is an eclectic collection of my thoughts and concerns. Some subjects are brought to my attention by others who feel this blog is a good conduit for communication. I am a volunteer for a number of local organisations, but I do NOT write on their behalf. I do not pretend to talk on behalf of any organisation or the community. There are people who share some of my views, and others that do not. If you do not like what you read here, find another blog to read, or better still write your own.
"I am not a sheep, I have my own mind. I am fed up with being told what and how to think? Whilst we are still allowed the remnants of free speech, I will speak out."
I think I agree with that.
This Blog is my snapshot of what is happening locally.
Whether you view me as an activist, a mischief maker, a nutter, an irritant, or a recorder of social history probably depends on your position and point of view.

PS: I hope you will also be writing to the Advertiser and Caterer.com.
The blog was clear. It said "the Fountain Pub is due to reopen this weekend.". It did not say "the Fountain Pub will reopen this weekend."

When I drove past last Sunday, the car park was full and several more cars were parked along the roadside, so they must be doing something right.
