Dismay over Tenbury Advertiser Pictures

Town Centres all over England are facing a tough time in the current economic climate, but Tenbury is actually doing better than most. I was dismayed to see the Tenbury Advertiser had printed two pictures of empty shops on their front page to illustrate the 'problems facing the Town'.

One shop has been empty for longer than I can remember and the other was only recently vacated when the business moved to better premises a few metres away.

It will be interesting the hear the results of the Mystery Shopper survey as the service in most of the shops is excellent, but in a few visitors are treated at best as an inconvenience, and at worst as a bloody nuisance. (Or maybe that's just me!)

Presumably the reason why the photographer got the choice of shopfront pictures so misleadingly wrong is because the Advertiser (now based in the Hereford Times offices)has no idea how Tenbury works and that it is a local paper in name only. There is rarely news that is at all controversial and really important news stories are predictably skated over or not covered at all.

I see the mystery shopper results have been published, did all the shops in Tenbury get a visit or was it just the independently owned stores, also will all the shops results be known .If you dont know what your result is how can you improve ?

I believe 30 shops were surveyed. Only four were represented at the presentation (due I understand to a misunderstanding about invites) The other survey results are due to be delivered to each shop. For confidentiality reasons, the names of the shops (other than the top 3) were not released and neither was their score.

Is there really 30 shops in Tenbury?

I must admit I have never counted them all but there are over 20 shops in Market Street.
