Jack and the Beanstalk opens at the Tenbury Regal tomorrow.

This classic tale is retold, with some noticeable performances by the local Tenbury Amateur Dramatics Society.

Watch out for another classic evil performance from the wicked witch, and an excellent comic performance from the Golden Goose.

Temperature rises at the Regal

A week of good news for the Tenbury Regal.

The new electric boiler has been installed and is being tested. So far the outside temperature has been warm, so it will be a little longer before we know how well it is working.

Also, the new Heritage Access Officer has started work (no name has been released yet) but hopefully full details will be disclosed at the next Town Council Meeting on Monday.

Paul Daniels fights back

Paul Daniels, who will be appearing in a show at the Tenbury Regal on 5th June is fighting back after a story about him charging for charity appearances has been written for the Mirror newspaper.

High Drama at Poster Sale

A total in excess of £300 was raised during a very well attended coffee morning and poster sale and auction at the Tenbury Regal Community Centre this morning.

Fierce bidding saw the top price of £60 paid for the Mama Mia poster, which was then donated back to the supporters group for resale.

Other popular posters included Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix which sold for £11.50, and Quantum of Solace which sold for £5.

Regal Heritage Grant Application Submitted

It was confirmed tonight that the Heritage Lottery Grant Application for the renovation, to the fabric of the building, has now been submitted.

In addition, funding for a Heritage Access Officer was also applied for.

It is hoped that a decision will be reached before the summer, and that urgent roofing work can be carried out this year.

Money will also be made available to research and record the history of the building.

It is hoped that the Heritage Access Officer can also increase the number of visitors coming to the building for both Cultural Events and to learn about the building and history of the site.

If the grant is successful then the Town Council will be required to raise an estimated match fund of £25,000, although some of this can be off-set against work already carried out.

Welcome Gift

An anonymous benefactor has donated the fee for the use of the Tenbury Regal for the Primary School end of term film.

Following Tenbury Town Council's refusal to waive the usual hire fee, it was feared that this additional expense would have to be met from the limited funds available to the volunteer Tenbury Film Group.

Although the Town Council were steadfast in ensuring that they made a profit from the School Film, they may not have been so lucky with the Pantomime that they promoted in the week before Christmas which appears to have landed the Council with a significant loss.

Tenbury Regal Cinema

I wonder if Tenbury Town Council, the owner of the Tenbury Regal are going to offer a lifeline to the volunteer led Tenbury Regal Cinema Group?

Tenbury Town Council (and by default, us the Council Tax payers) support the Bowls Club and Tennis Club with thousands of pounds of subsidy each year.

By contrast, they charge the Cinema Group thousands of pounds a year for the privilege of running a community service that is accessed by a far greater number of residents.
