Teme Bridge Repairs Delayed

It seems that the long promised and long overdue face lift of Teme Bridge have been delayed indefinitely.

It has long been said that the bridge would not be painted until after it had been repaired, and it now seems that WCC funding application to Central Government has not been successful, so no work will be carried out until 2012 at the earliest.

The Government has printed billions of extra pounds, largely to fund the Government's own spending. So if Teme Bridge is to be paid for by the Government, they can pay for it now, using this new 'paper money'. After all, they have to spend it on something - or has Tenbury already booked its usual place at the back of the queue? Has Town Council written to AWM, or GOWM, or even the MP or the MEP, or the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, to ask why nothing has been done to help Tenbury recover from the floods?

I agree. For as long as I can remember, the question of painting the bridge has always been riposte, with "We can't do it until after the repairs".

I can understand that they don't want the Public daubing it with left over Dulux on a Saturday morning.

The Town Council did make some noises about paying for the job themselves, when they heard that WCC will not be doing it for a number of years. Hopefully if they do, they will (1.) Ensure that top grade marine paint/or other coating is used. (2.) Find a grant to pay for it.
