Disappointment over Xmas Light Ceremony

A good crowd gathered tonight in Tenbury for the switching on of the Christmas lights.

For some reason the ceremony was running early, and many people who had seen the article in the local paper or looked at the Chamber of Trade website were disappointed to have arrived too late and had missed the ceremony. The advertised Carol Singing also didn't take place. I am told the juggler did perform, but had finished before the advertised start time.

One person I spoke to who had travelled in from another town was disappointed that it was all over in less than 15 seconds.

The Chamber have raised a lot of money for new lights and have this year extended the display down Market Street. It is a shame that poor organisation marred the occasion for a significant number of people.

Came through Tenbury this evening and only half the lights were on.
Why no Xmas tree this year?

I heard it was too windy when they tried to put it up. Guess they will try again.

Shame that the switch on was a bit of a fiasco. The juggler was good but all the back light from the Regal took away some of the sparkle from what could have been a more spectacular effect. The lack of a PA system meant that even across the other side of the road you could barely hear the countdown to the switch on. I have no idea who the RAF person was who officiated because again we could not hear from the opposite side of the road. Yes very poorly organized and the lack of the band and carol singers as in previous years didn't lend itself to any resemblance of Christmas spirit.

Is replacing carol singing with juggling another step in the drive to bury Christmas?

Isn't there normally a band playing? I can remember a really good band were playing carols on the regal steps last year. can't remember which band, but it made the event more christmassy.

Very badly organised.
