Market Street Toilets

Market Street Toilets

A quick competition (with no prizes). Guess how much the opening ceremony must have cost. Count all the people being paid out of the public purse, plus the 'bun fight' in the Pub opposite.

The real question, surely, is about additional costs rather than existing ones (if they are paid employees they presumably will not be being paid anything extra though I accept there are consequential opportunity losses) and some of those present are, in any case, retired. So I would guess that the extra costs may be travelling expenses (let’s say 6 return Malvern/Tenbury journeys at the HMRC rate of 40ppm = £160) and (say) 30 pub lunches (at £15 per head = £450). Total cost under £750 is my guess. Whether or not this is money well spent in the present climate is an altogether different matter.

Of course these aren't "new" toilets, but replacement toilets. As they were funded out of insurance money it would have been a waste not to build them.
