nonsense

burford here we come
tesno the grin will be taken from your faces you b***ards

Anonymous said...

No one can win against the mighty tesno

Anonymous said...

A49 Here you come Yesco

Anonymous said...

Yea you can use the a49 to get to the Ludlow tesco.

Oh and why would they build a tesco for Tenbury on the a49? It doesn't go through Tenbury.

Bumblebee said...

Great news but I'd urge caution - even if MHDC have recommended to refuse - there's still a few skirmishes left yet I suspect..

Thankfully though MHDC have carefully weighed-up the points/issues and bravely decided again that Tesco's application still doesn't make any sense on a number of counts.

That's now twice that MHDC have very clearly said that the RBB building is too important to the Tenbury Conservation area and shouldn't be touched.

Anonymous said...

they can appeal and win and the council tax payer will be hit hard

Anonymous said...

Yesco you can all stop crying and start shopping local instead of getting ripped off in Ludlow or Kidderminster.

Anonymous said...

maybe mr anon is a hyprocric and is one of the tesno wallies that shops in big stores and try to say that he shop locally maybe he is a lib dem .
professional liar

Anonymous said...

all because the council might take a hit on appeal it still doesnt make it right that tenbury's shops should have to suffer a tesco

@WR15 said...

Of course it isn't the Council that takes the hit it's us the Council Tax payers, but hopefully it wont come to that as the Refusal report would seem to be robust enough to withstand an appeal.

Anonymous said...

Actually I do shop local never shop in the big supermarkets the customer service is rubbish I like friendly staff like the ones you get in Tenbury.

Anonymous said...

Ahh well looks like I get to continue shopping out of town.

Anonymous said...

No need to shop in big stores ,everything you need is in Tenbury .You may have to do a bit of walking but so what it keeps you fit.

Anonymous said...

Yesco R.I.P

Anonymous said...

People say it takes "too long" shopping in Tenbury because walking between the shops takes 10 or 15 minutes. But it takes 40 minutes to drive to Ludlow and back - and you need to buy/tax/insure/fuel/service a car. Tesco may be cheaper, but the difference isn't enough to fund a weekly 20 mile round trip, let alone justify so much wasted time. And the damage to the environment!

Keep it local and shop local. Listen to the big White banner as you come out of Bromyard road

Bumblebee said...

Sounds like the beginnings of a 'Transition Tenbury' group to me..

Anonymous said...

TENBURY DID HAVE EVERYTHINGS YEARS AGO THIS PROVES TENBURY IS DIEING SO TESNO YOU ARE THE ONES THAT ARE THE DESTROYERS

Anonymous said...

what don't they have now then that they had years ago?

mrlongbeard said...

Anyone tell me where I can rent or buy films, music ebooks outside of 9-5 office hours, if not I've got to go out of town anyway

Handkerchiefs buy one get one free in Tescos ,an ideal christmas presents for the Yesco people.

Ian said...

"Keep it local and shop local. Listen to the big White banner as you come out of Bromyard road" - actually, that banner has been there too long and looks a mess. It would have more impact if it was removed, cleaned, and re-erected sometime next year.

Anonymous said...

Stop getting paranoid about a "shop local sign" ,at least it's better than a huge illuminated ugly Tesco sign.

Anonymous said...

The state of the banner shouldn't have an impact whether to shop local. It just proves people don't lome supporting their town and rather be another tesco town.

Anonymous said...

The recommendation to refuse Tesco is a huge boost for Tenbury. Now lets chase off Tesco once and for all.

Ian said...

I think I'll bow out of further contributions on this particular blog. Not much point, I think, trying to have a rational and sensible conversation with contributors whose main objective is to be simply abusive.

Anonymous said...

Ian is right, the banner is a mess!

Anonymous said...

Mess or not. It should't effect the fact that you should shop local!

Shop in tenbury keep Tenbury alive.

Shop outside tenbury it will kill tenbury

Let Tesco in tenbury Tenbury will die.

This is a HUGE BOOST FOR TENBURY that MHDC has recommended refusal now lets utilise this and keep tenbury alive.

@WR15 said...

I tend to agree. To leave a temporary banner in place for over a year shows a lack of interest from the Chamber of Trade. Much better that it is in place for a few weeks/months then moved to a new location. After a while it is little more than litter.

Anonymous said...

Its not litter. You need more than one. One at each entrance to the town. Lack of respect to the banner shows that people dont care about the town. How is it litter? Its not laying on the floor flapping in the wind is it? No! Gep behind Tenbury and shop local. LIKE IT SAYS!

shop local why
cant shop local on saturday afternoon most shops are shut
and it to expensive
are u stupid or what

Anonymous said...

Shop local during the week

Go earlier on Saturday. Don;t be so lazy staying in bed and GO EARLIER.

Stupid? Now people are getting personal

laura6346 said...

After reading some comments by 'anonymous' on the whole Tesco matter why is he so worried if Tesco does indeed come to tenbury by the sounds of his unlazy loyality to shoping local he will beable to keep the whole of Tenbury in biz just by himself....

mrlongbeard said...

"Shop local during the week"
So that'd be co-op, spar or nisa if you work for a living, all of which are national chains....

"Tenbury is a market town not a supermarket town" but only if you conveniently forget the current store that is a supermarket........

Anonymous said...

But Mr Longbeard if your going to criticise that why did you mis out the point where I said

GO EARLIER IN THE DAY ON SATURDAY.

Is it because its true you could go earlier in the day but people are just lazy and stay in bed til 3 in the afternoon?

Bumblebee said...

There's a local store that refers to itself as a 'Supermarket' [which by local scale probably seems like one] but by UK national standards I wonder if it still fits the classification? There seems to be a number of slight variations in classification but this [below] seems to be about the norm:

Supermarket: Self-service store selling mainly food with a gross trading floorspace of between 500 and 2,500 square metres.

I agree with Ian. Certain "anonymous" people are becoming aggressive on this blog" - eg I take offensive at being called a b***ard - wouldn't say it to my face would you? It's just become a personal battle against some not very nice people so you can "stuff it". Not everything gets posted so I was surprised to see the anonymous aggressive comment. Perhaps someone is revelling in it. I think it will just cause more of a breakdown of community spirit that I thought we had - not so apparently - how naive am I? You won't hear from me again - I think everyone should do the same because it's gone past an intelligent debate.

@WR15 said...

I guess the vast majority of people shop across a wide range of retailers and places. They mix local shopping, with shopping in the places they visit or are working and also on-line.

Some of the local shops are owned by national companies, or by people who have more than one shop. Many of the shop keepers don't live in Tenbury, and don't shop in Tenbury.

They use a mix of local and national suppliers.

Thankfully, in England there is no restriction on where you shop. Of course the Chamber of Trade and the Shop Keepers want you to shop locally, why wouldn't they?

Not everyone shops on price alone, they mix in convenience, availability, quality & service.

I don't think I have bought anything from Tesco this December, but last December I did, because I was working in Worcester a lot of the time.

hope tenbury goes under you are all to faced .B******* (Moderated)

Anonymous said...

Some one is angry because we (tesno) has saved the town.

@WR15 said...

I don't think it is a matter of winners or losers. The planning officer has recommended refusal on "technical" planning grounds.

The plan wasn't right for the site and therefore failed to be recommended.

The level of support or otherwise for the developers client, didn't come into play.

Anonymous said...

I think it's just some sore losers really.

Anonymous said...

Yesco you are a disgrace to your town, 332 members and nobody had the time to put a few signs around the town in support of Tesco. Just shows how much you wanted them.

mrlongbeard said...

"But Mr Longbeard if your going to criticise that why did you mis out the point where I said

GO EARLIER IN THE DAY ON SATURDAY."

Not criticising anyone old bean, I didn't pick up on it because to a small degree the sentiment, if not the way it was delivered, has a small grain of truth to it.

I personally think shopping at the weekend is to be avoided, it's family time, chores around the house time, time to catch up with friends after the working week time.

I choose to buy my meat locally from the local supermarket, and manage to do this during the week, everything else unless an emergency comes form out of town because it is more convenient for me.

Whilst shopping locally and keeping the small guys up and running are fine fine sentiments to be applauded lets not forget they are here to serve us, not the other way around. Which reminds me I've not been to the sweet shop lately, must pop in tomorrow

Anonymous said...

Mr longbeard if you work all week when do you do your shopping?

If it's time for the family take them with you.

Bumblebee said...

I tend to agree with folks who are concerned that the aggressive gestures are getting a little too overt on here.

Discussion and debate [re Tesco] is surely about putting reasoned arguments across 'for' or 'against' something?

Saying "hope tenbury goes under you are all to faced .B*******" surely doesn't count as discussion or debate - it's just a 'red mist' rant..

I'm sure that I'll get a rant in reply but -unless there's any valid arguments in it- I really can't see what the point of it would be or indeed who'd really listen.

Anonymous said...

It is a shame that this blog has been hijacked by one or two people (fairly obvious people)who wish to just be abusive.
If Tesco gives up on the application I hope that all the passion by the 'No' camp could be directed to finding a use for the cattle market site that will truly benefit the town. It will be interesting to see which of these people will pursue this and which will give up, claim victory for the town and sit by while the site slides further into dereliction.

Bumblebee said...

Personally I think I can fairly confidently say that there are many in the 'no' camp who'd relish a chance to discuss how this site could really benefit the community in a blended way..

I'd hope that it'd be a debate that all who either live in/shop in/visit the town would be invited to contribute to and that a set of feasible and costed options come out of this process that could then be voted on..

The presently-titled 'TesNO' group could make available a range of resources to help promote this debate/disseminate info.

Even if the shops were in Tenbury that sold what you wanted ,you would still moan that you could get it 5p cheaper at Tesco

Now guys is the time of our discontent made glorious summer:) We really need to start working seriously on the next phase. Decentralisation Minister Greg Clark said:

"This Bill will provide the enduring legislative foundation for a new, decentralised Britain, where power is returned to the people to which it belongs. We believe that communities should have the freedom to manage their own affairs in their way, and be empowered, not suppressed, by Government. The Bill will enact new rights allowing local people to shape and influence the places where they live, revolutionising the planning process by passing power down to those who know best about their neighbourhoods."

Housing Minister Grant Shapps added:

"With housebuilding at its lowest peacetime level since 1924, the time is right for radical shake up of the entire system. The Bill will end top-down targets - in their place communities with the vision and drive to build more homes will be given the freedom to achieve their ambitions, and this will be backed up with powerful cash incentives for councils that allow new development in their area.

"With five million people languishing on social housing waiting lists, social housing is ripe for reform. Councils will now be able to manage social housing in a way that genuinely meets the needs of local people, and will be able to offer fixed tenancies that give people the helping hand they need, for as long as they need it."

Communities Minister, Andrew Stunell said:

"The Localism Bill will pave the way for the long overdue push of powers out of Whitehall to councils and neighbourhoods across the country, and give local communities real control over housing and planning decisions.

"Local facilities have been closing down all over the country, leaving towns and villages without vital services.

"Small community groups that are willing to take over local assets often find that they lack the time and resources to get a plan together and compete with the might and muscle of big business and developers.

"The powerful new rights in the Bill will put real power in the hands of real people, empowering local communities and putting them at the heart of local decision making."
