The Tenbury Town Council met tonight in special session to re-consider their support for Tesco. Usually the Town Council cannot return to a subject (after a vote) for several months but on this occasion decided that enough additional information had come to light to vote again.
After a rather confused meeting, where it became clear that there were still many questions to which the Council didn't have the answers to, they voted on a proposition to support the planning application.
4 For the motion, 4 Against, 2 Abstentions
The Mayor then used her casting vote to reject the proposition.
This means that whilst their support is documented in the Recommend to Refuse document, they will be speaking against the development at the Planning Meeting.

This is a serious issue which [if it were still to go Tesco's way at planning meet or on appeal] then the highstreet's future prosperity could be seriously hindered and probably never recover.
Thankfully [although I too hear it was a very confused meeting with lots of comments presented erroneously as 'facts' by Clrs] the Town Council have finally voted to support the small shops of Tenbury - which should be welcomed.
If Tesco aren't successful at the planning meet on the 20th Dec [or on appeal].. Then I think that we as a town then need to look closely and debate/decide democratically on the various options that could go on the Cattle Market site. Everyone should be invited to have their say..
date 29 th dec 2010 i believe in shopping local i thought i try and beat the vat increaae hoping to buy a washing machine at ge bright they were shut so i went to currys instead good sevice they did everything to the book after this i believe tesco will be a wake up call
Good to see the Spar open on xmas day ,would Tesco be open ? I think not .
VAT doesn't go up until 4th Jan 2011 so i'm sure Brights would be re-open before then. Couldn't you of waited? Or did you run out of clean clothes?
Yes I popped into Spar on xmas day as I forgot my Cranberry Sauce. Thank God for Spar.
Does anyone have a contact number for who ever owns the old fire station as it has a burst pipe and water is going everywhere inside of it.

No tesco wouldnt be open on xmas day as they wouldnt expect there staff to work and leave there families and personally no shop should be open on xmas day they have all year round to make enough money
I went into Spar christmas day and it was doing a roaring trade ,well done Spar i say .What would happen Anonymous if you were need of the emergency services on christmas day and they had the same attitude as you .Its called offering a service

No Mr Anonymous im not the one on about brights but i do find attitude towards other peoples comments very arrigant and very rude is there any need for this
