This Blog is my snapshot of what is happening locally.
Whether you view me as an activist, a mischief maker, a nutter, an irritant, or a recorder of social history probably depends on your position and point of view.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT BANDS ARE ON AT THE JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS ON THE BURGADGE.?????
Doesn't appear to be any.
The Vaudeville Tramp Band, Ronda, The Fabulous Bordellos & Ronin are all playing the Beer Festival from 6pm.
So what happens if you want to sample a few pints and also have an intimate sotto voce conversation?
Go to the pub?
Unfortunately, you simply get a more limited range of beers and, generally . . . more music! Is there a music-free pub anywhere around here?
Pah you may have a Food & Drink Fair, but Stourport has a tea dance

Oh yeah and some Rock and Roll party too, but tea-dance; woo yeah!

Well it couldn't go everywhere. The route was planned so that the torch came within 10 miles of the majority of the population.
Music-free pubs: I haven't heard music when I have been in The Ship in Tenbury or The Bell at Pensax or The Fox up the Broadheath or indeed several other pubs around this area, so plenty of choice.
Trouble is at least one pub on your list not only doesn't have any music - it doesn't have a very friendly welcome either! Must try the others though . . .
"does anybody no why the Olympic torch never came through tenbury" - I did go to see it go through Clee Hill village. What a tremendous crowd there was and weather rare on Clee Hill - sunny AND very warm! I was a little disappointed at the relative inconspicuousness of the torch-bearer and his entourage – but still, an exciting, once-in-lifetime, occasion. Pity about West Mercia Police though . . . despite budget cuts they seem to be able to provide a grossly inflated presence. I know the police are supposed to be preventing crime and disorder but it is difficult to see how that many officers (and that many vehicles) could possibly be justified.
Update: Re Torch bypassing Tenbury.
I've been told, we didn't ask for it.
The beer tent will be open all afternoon. The bands don't start until after 6pm, so plenty of "quiet" drinking time.
Is that supposed to say jubilee on those posters? Its illegible, schoolboy error.
New pair of glasses required? Seems perfectly legible to me.
Driven all over the West Midlands this week. WELL DONE TENBURY WELLS - by far the best decorated place I've seen.
why didnt we ask for it .why av we got to pay to go into the beer festival.
The Burgage used to be a public space where people could walk, picnic or just kick a ball around.
Now we have to pay to use it.
Is it public - or isn't it? Is there a public footpath across it - or isn't there? Who owns it?
The Burgage is owned by the Town Council. Usually it is a public park, but on occasion it is hired out. On three occasions, Food Fair, Applefest & Bonfire there is an access charge. This small fee helps to pay for things like safety certificates, event insurance etc.
If people ask (possibly with the exception of Bonfire night) they can still use the footpath which follows a line between the playground and the far entrance (not the tarmac path)
If they want to "kick a ball about" on those days, they would be better to use the Palmers. Many volunteers give hundreds of hours to put these events on. Perhaps instead of complaining you should become a volunteer. You would then get in for free.
food fair what food fair.it was disgusting.if thats all tenbury can do they should be a shamed of themselves .
Well it was definitely there. So glad you are volunteering your services to make it better next year.
well the beer festival run by Jimbo, was crap. all the ber was almost as flat as the atmosphere... 1st band didnt bother to turn up. beer was so bad that i threw most of it away. It was so highly advertised, yet such a let down. also very poorly organised as there were barely any seats to sit down on. utter rubbish, i wont waste my time next year.
Would you have been prepared to pay an entrance fee to cover the cost of hiring in chairs?
I think the pound i paid earlier to get in to the food event would have covered the hire to include them in the evening event?? Also at £3 a pint, i would have thought that some seating would have been provided by jimbo??. Maybe it was a simple case of misunderstanding on chair requirements.
A chair would have not made the beer taste any better by the way.. Did you not partake?
I have previously happily stood in the rain at Tenbury beer festivals at penlu because the beer was good.
No, I didn't partake. I needed to drive & was running the electrics so decided best to stay off the beer.
