So it is possible for a group of concerned locals in a small town to take on the corporate might of Tesco and win..

Is it the locals or the shop keepers who are concerned? Some distinction is necessary me thinks....

Some shopkeepers are. Still waiting for poll.results.
Some locals for, some against. Lots of anti protesters who live elsewhere!

The anti mob must be sought out and ignored if they are not residents of the town.

They may not live in the town ,but they may WORK in the town which gives them every reason to voice there views .Get your facts right please.

Looks like the 'anti mob' grows apace though in Tenbury.. A rising tide of opinion against the destruction of Tenbury's highstreet by faceless corporates such as Tesco.

Be nice people, we will all still have to live here whatever the result.

In response to anon replying to anon;
Anon quoted no facts to get wrong, but pedantry aside working in a place does not give you the right to have a say in a councils desicions,surely??

I live here but work 80 odd miles away, I would not dream of even trying to influence the planning process at a place I only work at.

Work is, especially nowadays, transitory , no longer are there kind for life, what a worker feels for a place of employment now could rapidly change should their employment needs change.

Peace out.

What about considering what proactive things we can do as a community if we pull together?

Other towns have managed this like Totnes.. They're creating a sustainable community and highstreet as opposed to a mini 'clone' town as supermarket towns tend to become..

if you work in a place you pay your taxes there which goes towards that community so you have every right to voice an opinion. why pay your taxes in a place that then lets a big giant in that could cause you your job. you wouldn't like it if it happaned ro you (the one who works 80 miles away)

I think you are confused. The taxes you pay when working (PAYE & NI) go to central government. The only people who pay towards Tenbury Town Council, Malvern Hills District Council and Worcester County Council are the people who live here.
(Yes central government also pay towards WCC & MHDC)
